OCPS Teams Rally for Record-Breaking Diaper Drive
In our community, the Central Florida Diaper Bank serves as a lifeline for families, distributing an average of 92,000 diapers to 1,235 families every single month. To assist in the 2026 Diaper Drive, two OCPS departments transformed their offices into collection hubs, competing to see who could rally the most support.
The Chief of Staff’s office and the Curriculum and Digital Learning team wanted to help the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County (ELCOC) reach their 40,000 diaper goal to support the smallest members of our community. In an inspiring display of civic competition, the Chief of Staff’s office collected 4,910 diapers and Curriculum and Digital Learning collected 3,848.
Together, these teams contributed 8,758 diapers, a feat that left ELCOC leadership in awe. Dr. Scott Fritz, CEO of the ELCOC, noted that this wasn't just a win—it was the most diapers ever donated at one time in the coalition's history. The OCPS Voluntary PreKindergarten team also pitched in with more than 2,000 diapers donated in February.
The success of this drive ensures that local families don't have to choose between buying food and buying clean diapers. This effort complements the ELCOC’s focus of administering the Florida School Readiness Program, which provides financial aid for child care. By addressing immediate needs like diapers today, the community is helping parents stay focused on work and helping children stay healthy for school tomorrow.
To honor the massive effort, Kelly Services and Equitable Holdings decided to recognize the heart shown by both groups, sponsoring a double pizza party.
It is a true community victory where every diaper represents a step toward a more stable future for a future OCPS student.
Additional donations can be delivered directly to the ELCOC through March 7 at their offices, located at 7700 Southland Boulevard, Suite 100, Orlando, FL 32809. The last day of the drive will be capped off with a diaper drive-thru drop off event on Saturday, March 7, at the Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center in Orlando from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
